Curriculum vitae

Prof. Büchner is partner in the Munich office of the international law firm Jones Day and certified specialist attorney for information technology law (Fachanwalt für Informationstechnologie­recht). Since mid of the 80s, he has been specialized in legal issues of the information and communication technology. Today he focuses on transactions in the technology and media sector including IT outsourcing and the exploitation of sports rights. He is also familiar with the regulatory requirements of these industries and advises on a regular basis in respect of compliance in the areas of data protection, broadcast and media services as well as telecommunication. As immediate past president of the International Federation of Computer Law Associations (IFCLA) he was overseeing the organization and holding of the 2012 IFCLA Conference in Munich. 2005 through 2009 he was chairman of the German Association for Law and Informatics (DGRI). He publishes and lectures regularly on topics in the aforementioned areas of law. Inter alia he is co-author of the publications “Erfolgreiche Auslagerung von Geschäftsprozessen“ (successful outsourcing of business processes) (Heidelberg 2008, insofar also co-editor) and “License Agreements – Formular Commentary“ (3rd edition, Munich 2010), where he covers the topic “merchandising agreements“. Since 1999 he has contributed to the master study program “law of informatics“ offered by the Wilhelm Leibniz University Hannover as part of he EULISP program, since 2006 as honorary professor.
